Best. Day. Ever. Part 2.

Black Friday:
Set to shop till we drop!
Lexi and I began our Black Friday shopping a bit later than the typical Black Friday shoppers.  We got our beauty sleep and headed out at 7:30am with our coupons in hand set to find a fantastic deal.  We were even able to bribe Alex with the promise of Cheesesteak Connection for lunch to come out with us as Brett was at work, again.

We hit up Cherry Creek Mall, Highlands Square, Kohls in Lakewood, yes, we drove 45 min to get there and found out today that there is a Kohls 5 minutes away from Lowry.  #thanksgoogle.  We stopped at Cheesesteak Connection for lunch, then we completed the trip out at a shopping strip in Aurora and headed home.

Perhaps my favorite part of the day occurred when Lexi and I hit up Anthropologie in the Cherry Creek Mall.  Lexi found a stellar sundress on sale and we went up together to pay for it at the register.  As she was paying for it, I wandered off to look at some Christmas ornaments in a display and then decided to wait for her outside the store.

Lexi walks out a few minutes later just busting with laughter and here proceeds the best story ever:

Me: What are you laughing about?
Lexi: Well....I just had the best experience.  I went up to who I thought was you and said, "Oh my gosh I am so excited!!!! (high pitch squealing) And the girl turned around, who wasn't you, but a blonde haired worker and she said, "What are you so excited about?!"  I didn't want to explain to her that I thought she was someone else, so instead I stammered that I was super excited about this great deal I just got on a very cute dress, and that it was my first time in Anthropologie, and that I was just very excited because I am from North Dakota!!!"  To which the worker responded, "Well aren't you bubbly!" And then because I was so flustered, I had to ask how to get out of the store."

Best story ever....gotta love the girl. #awesome

We got home from Black Friday shopping and then decided that Friday night would be a "date night" so that we didn't have to cook the night before our Thanksgiving.   So we all got dolled up and headed out to show Alex and Lexi 16th Street Mall and hit up Cheesecake Factory for dinner and a late night stroll.

"best date night and best date night food"
Group shot thanks to the biking man who pulls people up and down the street in his cart.
Gosh I love this girl!

And of course I love my hubby!!

And Alex and Lexi showin' some lovin' too!

So we finished the night with a little stroll up and down the street and headed home to get some food prepared the night before for our feast and to get to bed for the early morning ahead of us!

TURKEY DAY!!!

Oh boy, this was a first.  I was super nervous to prepare and host my first holiday meal.  But with many phone call conversations with my mom to make sure things were going just right, it went of without a hitch.  Well the meal did, I didn't say the WHOLE day.  There may or may not have been a minor kitchen fire. Yes, fire.  Oops!

So we started by getting the bird ready.
And into the oven it goes....at this point I am just HOPING it all turns out.

We then continue onto getting the table set and the side dishes prepared.

And we of course had to take a picture of my first pie ever.  I don't like pumpkin pie so I was hoping it would be delightful!

And then yes, the kitchen fire.  During the last few minutes of preparation, Brett and Lexi were finishing getting ready and Alex was preparing the lefse as I was getting the stuffing out of the turkey and I MAY have thrown a kitchen towel in the general vicinity of a candle burning....and it may, okay yes it actually, started on fire!! We caught it immediately and threw it in the sink and hosed it down, but it certainly got my heart pounding!!
Goodbye Tuesday towel!

We then got the rest of the meal prepared after the quick scare!!

Turkey is out of the oven!

Here is Brett carving his first turkey!!!

Thankful for this wonderful man!

Thankful for the best brother and sister we could ask for!!

We then sat down to a delicious meal with each other and ate until our tummies were full!

After our wonderful meal, the trio cleaned up while I took a quick cat nap and we headed out to Red Rocks to explore and burn a few calories from the meal we just devoured!!

We had the "best day ever" celebrating Thanksgiving with Alex and Lexi and could not have been more thankful for them coming to visit.  They headed out early this afternoon and we already miss them greatly.  They truly are a huge blessing in our life and can't wait for more adventures in years to come!!!  We love you guys and hope you visit again soon!

These seriously were the "best days ever"!
